I am here to share my thoughts with those out there having the same ideology as mine and who would like to share their two cents worth with the public on the current issues faced by teenagers or people like us. But please do not post any profanities or vent your anger here ya. Thanks.

THE NEW GENERATION WHERE ARE WE HEADING

There was so much hype going on about banning Valentine's Day in Malaysia. So here goes the story behind the story.

Looking back during the days when there was no internet, no handphones, there were never any stories about baby dumping, incest,  unwanted pregnancies and the list goes on.  Teenagers then were happy living our lives as teenagers and looking forward to the day when we can go to college, get a diploma, get a job, get married, have families. Our parents taught us valuable lesson about life, taught us to be responsible people.  Gave us religious upbringing that helped us a lot.  And fast forward to present day, we are faced with the current situation of unwanted pregnancies, etc etc. And looking at the current situation, we asked ourselves, what happened?  I am not a mother myself but it all boils down to why the parents themselves do not discuss the dangers of pre-martial sex.  Are parents nowadays too busy with their lives to pay enough attention to their children? When I was a teenager, there were a lot of issues that I could not discuss with my parents, probably due to my shy nature of asking my mom about things, but now I would have expected teenagers these days would have the courage to ask their parents  about sex instead of going into the net and having easy access to pornographic websites.   And what that happens, teenagers tend to share with their friends what they see on the net and started finding partners to so call 'explore' and all the more the so called One Day of Love allows these teenagers to express their love to their partners and thus leads to baby dumping nine months down the road. What makes one think it happens only on Valentine's  day. What about other days?

How do we curb these activities? Ban Valentine's Day? I am a Muslim and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day but I am certain there are solutions that can be brought about to educate these children who are the future generations of our country about the dangers of pre-martial sex and the effects on the emotional state of the teenage mother when she either chooses to dump the baby or take the baby's life for fear of shame that would be brought upon her and her family. How do we deal with such issues? We are no longer in an era of yesterday where whatever or parents say is right.  Teenagers would argue about many things and we need to find a solution as to how to make them understand the basis why pre-martial sex is prohibited not only from a religious point of view but also from an emotional point of view and how it would affect them for life. Can anyone share their opinions here? It would certainly help many teenagers out there becos most baby dumping cases are done by Malays, sadly.
